Indonesia, a vast polyglot nation, has made significant economic advances under the administration of President Yodhonoyo, but faces challenges stemming from the global economic crisis.
Indonesia still struggles with poverty and unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, corruption, a complex regulartory envioronment and unequal resource distribution between regions.
It is estimated that 30-40% of children are homeless. Many living on the streets without parents or caring adults. Many must beg or steal to survive, and many are sexuallly abused. Some live a life of regular rape and are at risk of HIV/AIDs and other diseases as well as malnutrition and illness. Family, school, hope are just dreams. The next bits of trash or nurishment is the only focus.
This is not drug and alcohol related as it is often in idustrialized countries by adults. This is true starvation, living dangerously and without hope. CHILDREN!
